The Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and client-focused Manager, Business Development Leader. You will be responsible for distribution and growth across the southeast geographical region of the country. Your responsibilities include but are not limited to organic growth and relationship management through broker channels and communicating Curi's mission and value-added benefits to Curi's distribution partners and prospective clients while growing our physician membership base. You will identify opportunities to create brand awareness for Curi, while also working closely with key internal stakeholders (underwriting, claims, risk management, finance/account, etc.), as well as other Curi companies (Curi RMB Capital and Curi Advisory).

Key Result Areas

  • Responsible for managing territory distribution, growth, development, and broker partners in, but not limited to, the following states: GA, SC, NC, VA, MD, DE, NJ, and PA. Additional states may be added as Curi continues its market expansion.
  • Establish Curi as the "carrier of choice" in a brand-new market.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with new and existing broker partners to develop, manage, and secure quality new business in assigned territory.
  • Work aggressively to meet annual new business goals within the determined parameters.
  • Lead and manage the entire sales process and cycle for small, mid-sized, and large accounts
  • Ability to build out captive programs and other alternative risk options for our broker partners and their clients
  • Pipeline management and timely entry and maintenance of CRM data in SalesForce.
  • Communicate and educate brokers on Curi's underwriting appetite and pre-qualify and qualify new business opportunities
  • Contract negotiation with broker partners and prospective clients.
  • Utilize networking skills to develop new distribution partners while maintaining Curi's franchise value in the marketplace.
  • Cross-sell Curi Capital and Curi Advisory.
  • Provide support, brand, and product education to distribution partners, including new agency onboarding programs.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with the underwriting, broker services, and other key stakeholders to achieve strategic and profitable growth based on territory, specialty, and size of practice.
  • Work closely with Marketing and Communications on marketing strategy to bolster the Curi brand in the Southeast and MidAtlantic regions of the country.
  • Analyze weekly and monthly reports through SalesForce to maximize and create opportunities with key broker partners.
  • Execute presentations and proposals of the "Curi story" to brokers, prospective clients, and clients.
  • In conjunction with broker services, underwriting, and our broker partners, provide our new clients with seamless onboarding creating a best in-class client experience.
  • Manage the full submissions process with key internal stakeholders and our distribution partners.
  • Attend MPL and healthcare related events for networking, brand awareness, and marketing purposes
  • Reporting of activity, progress, and market intelligence during weekly team meetings.
  • Continuous education of Curi's offerings, competitor information, industry, and healthcare knowledge.

Key Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 10+ years in medical professional liability insurance and/or similar line of insurance
  • 12+ years in business development, sales, and/or marketing function
  • Experience working in a quota/goal-driven environment with territory and relationship management responsibilities
  • Experience with extended sales cycle management (12-18 months)
  • Property & Casualty license, must obtain in first 90 days of employment

Preferred Education and Experience

  • 15+ years of insurance experience, preferably MPL
  • 8+ years working on the MPL carrier side
  • Experience working on captive programs and other alternative risk vehicles
  • Insurance designations, i.e. CPCU, CIC, CRM
  • Underwriting, risk management and/or claims experience
  • Experience working on the brokerage side
  • Healthcare, pharma, and/or medical device sales is a plus if candidate does not meet the carrier and brokerage requirements

Travel

Approximately 50% of time will be spent traveling throughout Southeast territory and attending other MPL and healthcare related events.

Compensation

This person will be compensated with a base salary and will be able to participate in the Business Development Leader sales incentive plan.
