About the Job

Position overview

This position will work with the College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) International Initiatives Office. As a Program Ambassador, you will be responsible for assisting participants in the CEHD Visiting Scholars program. The program hosts international visiting scholars from Kazakhstan on campus. Scholars will be conducting research and attending graduate courses at the University of Minnesota. The Program Ambassador will support visiting scholars in adjusting and navigating campus and the Twin Cities and will provide tutoring and English language support with their coursework. This position will work in collaboration with the Program Director and Program Supervisor.

Working hours on-site will depend upon the needs of the students but may be negotiable. Anticipated 2 hours a week in November and December at $25.00 per hour.

Job Responsibilities (100%)

  • Help scholars navigate the Twin Cities and University of Minnesota-Twin Cities
  • Engage in conversations and share information on the Twin Cities, UMN, and US culture.
  • Provide tutoring support with their coursework
  • Provide English language support
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree
  • Minimum 1 year teaching or tutoring experience
  • Ability to work well with diverse populations
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Strong commitment to support the University's work in internationalization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • ESL teaching experience
  • Strong written and spoken language skills.
