Position Summary

The Academic Advisor, Advisement & Student Services will support and implement all academic, administrative, and student services operations of selected academic programs in order to meet retention and completion goals. Orient new students to the school and provide a high-level of direct counseling and advisement services to enrolled students; maintain flow of student issues and concerns. Facilitate connections with all relevant School and University resources. Support academic planning within the School. Represent the School to internal and external constituencies.



Qualifications

Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Education:
Master's Degree in higher education, counseling, or public administration. Gradaute degree in Higher Education, Psychology, Counseling, or other related fields preferred.

Required Experience:
2+ years of relevant professional level experience or an equivalent combination. Must include experience in academic advisement and/or student services.

Preferred Experience:
Experience advising undergraduate and/or graduate students and working with student information systems and learning management systems. Experience working or learning in an online setting.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Must possess outstanding client service skills, the ability to maintain extremely well-organized records, and a detail-oriented approach. Excellent interpersonal skills, as well as oral and written communication skills, are also a necessity in this role. Counseling, student advisement, and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels are required.



Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $70,000.00 to USD $72,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
