Job Purpose

As members of the Closure Department we are responsible for designing and testing the vehicle closures and components to meet model performance, safety, reliability, profitability, and manufacturing requirements, while crafting the envisioned multisensory experience for our drivers and passengers.At the Engineer III Career Level, you take ownership and more of a leadership role when it comes to designing complex parts, overseeing testing activities, and / or leading a minor model change project for your department.

Key Accountabilities

  • Create 3D layouts and data and 2D drawings using CATIA
  • Correlate and negotiate with internal and external contacts
  • Calculate Cost and weight estimates
  • Coach junior associates in their role to improve design productivity and Skill
  • Manage the design schedule for a small group of junior designers and contingents
  • Ensure that Functional safety standards are achieved
  • Conduct necessary research and prepare documents for technical evaluation
  • Execute root cause analysis to solve build or market concerns in a timely manner

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

  • Bachelor of Science Mechanical Engineering
  • 3 years
  • CATIA, Effective verbal and written communication

Workstyle

  • Majority of work is performed at a computer, some interaction in test lab, fabrication and manufacturing environments required, 5-10 hours/week OT as needed, occasional travel.
