Full-Time I First Shift

Description for Blood Bank Laboratory Coordinator:

  • Blood Bank Coordinator position oversees the daily operations of the Blood Bank; responsible for quality control and maintenance, policy and quality management, training, competency, ordering and overseeing blood bank staff as well as compliance with hospital policy and regulatory regulations.
  • Provides technical guidance and assistance to the staff.
  • Develops, reviews and updates technical policy and procedure manuals.
  • Monitors and reviews patient results for significant analytical errors and unusual values and resolves problems that may adversely affect test results and notifies appropriate personnel.
  • Communicates with all shifts and follows through concerning incomplete work/issues. Notifies the director of problem situations and possible solutions.
  • Blood Bank Laboratory Coordinator operates the department in a cost-effective manner and maintains expenses within the budget.

Requirements for Blood Bank Laboratory Coordinator:

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Must have 1 year experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist in the designated discipline and be qualified under CLIA regulations to function as a General or Technical Supervisor.
  • Certified in Clinical Laboratory Science by recognized certifying agencies.
  • Certified or eligible for certification in clinical laboratory science by recognized certifying agencies. Certification must be achieved within one year of hire.
