Investigates and analyzes measurement methods used to ensure that the quality level of product produced meets established standards. Responsible for calibration and/or document control activities in accordance with the requirements of the ISO/TS 16949 standards and internal procedures. Uses applicable software programs to administer calibration and/or document control systems.

1. Read and comprehend all specifications and blueprints pertaining to products, processes, quality requirements and product controls.

2. Responsible for:

a. Calibration Control

a. Read and comprehend all specifications as well as applicable ANSI or ASTM test procedures.

b. Maintain all gage calibration procedures.

c. Identify, repair and calibrate gages, and schedule calibration by outside vendors and laboratories.

d. Demonstrate calibration and traceability to NIST standards.

e. Use gage control software to ensure timely completion duties.

f. Accurately record and file all gage certificates and information.

b. Document Control

a. Review documents and forms as required and distribute documents to manuals.

b. Manage the document change request (DCR) and document change training (DCT) systems.

c. Maintain the document master list (DML) for Quality Assurance controlled documents.

d. File and secure original or master documents in an organized manner.

e. Maintain revision records and archives to provide revision history.

Technicians may be responsible for either or both of these areas depending on the size and complexity of the Plant operations and the needs of the Plant Quality Assurance department.

3. Serve as a technical resource for production groups and others, as appropriate, regarding product characteristics and quality requirements.

4. Operate various equipment including calipers, micrometers, rulers, thread gages, personal computers and

general office equipment.

5. Mindful of improving methods and processes in completing assignments. Implements new ideas on

approval of supervisor.

6. Keeps work area neat, clean, organized, and under control.

7. Is responsible for quality and safety of own work and compliance of all company procedures and policies

Qualifications

  • Required: High School education with one year experience in a manufacturing environment.Any deviations from the above requirements (e.g. substituting more work experience for required education) will be evaluated and approved by the Vice President - Operations.
  • Preferred: High school education with college course work in business administration, manufacturing technology or related courses, two years experience in a manufacturing setting.

SPECIAL EQUIPMENT OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proficiency with personal computers and applicable software, including Microsoft Office and Windows, statistical software and data analysis. Proficiency with basic measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers and digital indicators.
