Overview
Now hiring a Bed Management Coordinator Responsible for patient throughput and flow coordination in collaboration with the nursing bed coordinator and/or hospital supervisor, and entry of all admission, discharge and transfer (ADT) activity in Medipac at Presbyterian and Kaseman Hospitals. The bed controller is also responsible for interacting with medical staff within the system and those referring patients to Presbyterian, ensuring patients are admitting at the appropriate admission status, ensuring accommodation codes are accurate in Medipac, and escalating issues negatively impacting patient flow through the proper channels How you belong matters here. Qualifications
- High school diploma, strong computer skills, successful completion of Medipac competency training, medical terminology or class within 3 months and one to three years of experience in customer service required.
Responsibilities
- Deploys programmatic development and revision of Bed Management Center at Presbyterian and Kaseman Hospitals. Implements the hospitals mission, philosophies, goals, standards, policies and procedures related to patient flow and throughput. Makes independent decisions related to placement of patients
- Identifies and resolves issues affecting patient throughput or access at Presbyterian and Kaseman Hospitals
- Interacts with internal and external customers to facilitate appropriate placement of patients and optimize access to hospital resources.
- Assists in processing and resolution of interdepartmental and internal operational issues related to bed management and patient throughput.
- Provides clerical and/or secretarial duties.
- Accesses and enters patient information from computerized system in order to direct clients and customers.
- Assists Nursing Supervisors and other clinical leadership with information to manage the hospitals Capacity Management Plan
- Functions as a customer service representative to referring facility physicians and staff, patients and families all internal customers such as physicians, nurses,
- Performs primary admission functions for Presbyterian, Kaseman, and Rio Rancho facilities including admitting, changing patient status, discharging, transferring
- Provides and/or coordinates technical support for bed management and admitting software systems
- Provides coverage for Staffing Coordinator in their absence
- Provide dispatcher oversight of daily Transport Department operations through the use of the automated transport system
