New York Institute of Technology Office of Information Technology Services, seeks an IT Infrastructure Manager located at the Old Westbury campus.

The IT Infrastructure Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and finalizing projects related to the university's IT infrastructure. This role involves coordinating resources, managing budgets and timelines, and ensuring the successful delivery of technology solutions that support the university's strategic objectives. This role requires a highly organized and process-oriented individual who can effectively coordinate with internal departments, including Information Technology Services and Capital Planning & Facilities, as well as manage relationships with external contractors and vendors.



Responsibilities

    Define and execute all network and telecommunication projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget. Manage multiple projects simultaneously, including renovations, new construction, technology refreshes, and the implementation of new technologies.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders across the university to understand project requirements, provide regular updates, and ensure alignment with university standards and strategic objectives. Facilitate communication between technical teams, vendors, and other university departments to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors, including the development of Request for Proposals (RFPs), contract negotiations, and ensuring vendor compliance with project specifications and university standards. Coordinate internal resources and third-party contractors/vendors to ensure project objectives are met.
  • Develop and initiate Request for Proposals (RFPs) for external vendors in a process-oriented and repeatable environment. Manage all aspects of vendor engagement, from proposal submission to contract awarding, ensuring adherence to university standards, design specifications, and best practices.
  • Direct and oversee the work of external vendors in the execution of design specifications and implementation of network and telecommunications technologies. Ensure successful deployment of these technologies, particularly in the context of university renovations, new construction, technology refreshes, and the introduction of new technologies. Facilitate coordination between vendors and internal departments to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all network and telecommunication project stakeholders, providing regular updates on project progress, risks, and issues. Work closely with internal departments, including Facilities, academic, and administrative departments, to align project execution with the university's strategic goals and infrastructure needs. Ensure clear communication and coordination between all involved parties.
  • Educate and enforce university standards, quality of service, and documentation practices among external vendors. Ensure that all network and telecommunications implementations meet or exceed university expectations.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve project management processes, ensuring a repeatable and efficient approach to managing network and telecommunication projects.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including project plans, status reports, and post-implementation reviews. Provide regular updates to senior management on project progress, risks, and outcomes.
  • Perform other duties as needed by the department and defined by the supervisor.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required; Master's degree preferred. Significant work experience would be considered in lieu of advanced degree requirement. PMP or similar project management certification is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience managing complex IT infrastructure projects preferably within an academic or research environment.
  • Strong understanding of network and telecommunications technologies/infrastructure including design specifications, standards, and best practices is required; additional knowledge of advanced AV system design/build requirements would be highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and vendors simultaneously; must be highly skilled in managing multiple tasks within a dynamic, team-centric environment and capable of adeptly prioritizing workloads based on urgency, volume, and other pertinent factors.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail is required. Successful candidate must also be committed to delivering high-quality results within established timelines, budget and scope.
  • Exceptional communication skills, adept at fostering productive collaboration across diverse teams (both internal and external), and proficient in conveying complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders with clarity and precision.
  • Must possess a high degree of proficiency with AutoCAD and BIM modeling software.
  • Proven ability to engage effectively with individuals from varied backgrounds, including students, faculty, and staff, in support of cultivating a welcoming and inclusive environment.
  • Excellent customer service skills; a high degree of integrity relative to data security and confidentiality of information required.
  • Team player with excellent consulting skills and a fun but professional presence required.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays on an as-needed basis to meet the demands of the role and ensure operational effectiveness.

This position is primarily an onsite position with the occasional ability to work remote as in line with New York Tech remote work policy. Travel to construction locations will be required. Most project work takes place at the NYC or Long Island campuses.

New York Tech considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate experience/expertise, education/training, key skills, geographic location, internal peer equity as well as market, organizational considerations and/or applicable collective bargaining agreement when extending an offer.
