Chemistry Instructor

The University of Minnesota Rochester (www.r.umn.edu) invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position in chemistry for its undergraduate degree program, the Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences (BSHS). The position is primarily teaching-focused with the expectation of contributing to departmental and institutional service (90% teaching, 10% service).
The instructor will join the Center for Learning Innovation (CLI), an innovative, interdisciplinary department which leads the development and teaching of an integrated, writing-enriched curriculum for a baccalaureate degree in the health sciences.
Chemistry Instructor

Worksite location: This position is located in-person in Rochester, Minnesota.

Job Duties:

  • Teach undergraduate organic chemistry
  • Assist preparation and team-taught delivery of course content in the active learning classroom
  • Assist in preparing and teaching laboratory sessions, grading
  • Hold weekly hours in the Just ASK tutoring center
  • Supervise undergraduate teaching assistants,
  • Facilitate department-wide data collection efforts that coincide with course delivery duties
  • Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Requirements

  • Master of Science in chemistry

Required skills:

  • Knowledge of basic techniques in a chemistry laboratory setting.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Works well in interdisciplinary teams and is able to work independently
