Director of Belonging and Inclusion The Director of Inclusion and Belonging within the Division of Student Affairs is a strategic leader responsible for advancing initiatives that foster an inclusive, equitable, and supportive campus environment. This role provides vision and direction for programs, policies, and practices that enhance a sense of belonging among all students, particularly those from underrepresented, marginalized, or historically excluded backgrounds. The Director collaborates with students to implement strategies that align with the university's mission and core values, ensuring that the campus community is welcoming, inclusive, and respectful for all.
Job Summary Executes strategic alignment, long-term planning, operational planning, and management oversight of major college, campus, or University-wide student affairs functions. Establishes the direction, goals, implementation strategy, evaluation means, student initiatives, and policies of the department. Maintains responsibility for budgetary matters. Directs effective communications, promotions, and public relations for the department. Essential Functions Executes strategic alignment, long-term planning, operational planning, and management oversight of major college, campus, or University-wide student affairs functions. Establishes the direction, goals, implementation strategy, evaluation means, student initiatives, and policies of the department. Maintains responsibility for budgetary matters. Directs effective communications, promotions, and public relations for the department. Provides strategic alignment, long-term planning, and management oversight of major college, campus, or University-wide student affairs functions in areas including student affairs, student finance, admissions, student records, and study abroad programs. Translates strategic and tactical business plans into student operational plans. Establishes the direction, goals, implementation strategy, and policies of the department. Evaluates and improves Student Affairs' programs; formulates and implements student policies; develops innovative strategies for providing student services; and employs practices that foster recruitment, retention, and enhancement of the overall quality of the student college experience. Formulates and administers the annual operating budget. Procures agreements for materials or services. Oversees and develops initiatives such as peer tutoring, academic coaching, transfer student success, reducing/eliminating academic disparities, and academic standing policies and procedures. Develops and maintains partnerships throughout the University. Advises senior administrators in implementing programs, new initiatives, and special projects. Oversees communications, promotions, and public relations for the department to achieve departmental goals and objectives. Ensures that all programs and activities comply with University, state, and federal regulations. Serves on various University, division, and departmental committees and represents the department at various state and national associations. Supervises staff, which includes hiring, performance reviews, and documenting disciplinary actions and other human resource administration. Manages work schedules and approves timecards. Provides professional development opportunities. Distributes and reviews work.
