Smithfield Foods, Inc. seeks Senior IT Data Solution Architects in Smithfield, VA.

Job Duties: Assist in leading data platform design and deployment including data ingestion, data storage, computing, pipeline orchestration, source code control, CI/CD, and access control. Partner with data engineers and analysts to develop reusable data pipeline design patterns. Design and develop physical data models including data lakes and data warehouses utilizing dimensional modeling concepts. Work with IT teams, business analysts, and data analytics teams to understand needs of data consumers and design solutions. Serve as a principal advisor for domain technology architecture and strategy. Create and maintain enterprise analytics data architecture documentation. Collaborate with the IT Data Governance team in defining and managing standards, guidelines, and processes. Participate in the selection of emerging technologies for data management, storage, and analytics. Present project designs and architectural roadmaps to the relevant governance committees and implementation teams. Responsible for continuous improvement of existing data architecture, delivering reusable services and cost saving opportunities in line with the policies and standards of the groups.

Requirements: Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Electronic Engineering or a related field and five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the job offered or related occupation: working with Kimball Dimensional Modeling, including identifying type 2 slowly changing dimensions; working with data related Python programming, including numpy and pandas library; utilizing SQL programming skills including cleansing and transforming raw data using SQL as a part of a data pipeline; performing ETL pipeline development, including source to landing development in Azure data Factory; and working in agile software development environment and utilizing Azure devops to track tasks and code changes. Telecommuting and/or working from home may be permissible pursuant to company policies. 25% travel required nationally.
