Responsibilities

  • Responsible for scheduling patient appointments from phone requests.
  • Works with physician offices, patients, Health Center departments and all others in completing the scheduling function, including patient demographic information and insurance eligibility verification.
  • Assures that proper patient records and film studies are available prior to the patients' appointments.
  • Reminds patients of appointments and to bring prior records as appropriate.
  • Contributes to efficiently of provider schedules by filling cancellations and rescheduling appointments when requested.
  • Works under the supervision of the Clinic Supervisor/Manager.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • One-year prior experience in medical office setting.
  • Must type 40 wpm: proficient computer skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills, both written and verbal; interpersonal skills necessary to interact with patients and their families, physician offices, nursing personnel and co-workers.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task and coordinate more than one event at a time.
  • Professionalism required.
  • Must have knowledge of HIPAA rules.

Preferred Job Requirements:

  • Prior experience in physician clinic phone scheduling preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
