General Information:

We are currently seeking an Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our world-class liquid-filled transformers manufacturing plant in South Boston, VA.

Under general supervision, you will follow specific instructions of a supervisor or lead person to perform professional assignments requiring application of standard principles and practices. Typical duties/responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Your Responsibilities:

  • Support in collecting data and conducting analysis in areas of various engineering areas.
  • Provide assistance to engineers to perform relatively routine operations such as preparing reports.
  • Use ProE/Creo to develop 3D models under direction of lead engineer's guidance.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management or lead engineer.
  • Perform duties in a manner fully compliant with prevailing safety and qualify procedures and policies.
  • Student will be required to present project presentation at the end of the assignment.

Your Background:

  • Student must be currently enrolled as a full-time student and a rising junior or senior majoring in mechanical, industrial, or electrical engineering.
  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
  • Overall GPA over 3.0
  • Excellent computer and communication skills required
  • Additional Information:
  • All work performed at the physical plant location in South Boston, VA.
  • Student must be available to work a 40 hour workweek.
  • Must be 18 years of age when they start work.
  • Student is responsible for their own housing, lodging, transportation, etc. No relocation assistance.
  • Student is not eligible for any benefits including holiday pay.
  • Perform duties in a manner fully compliant with prevailing safety and quality procedures and policies.
  • Available to work overtime as required (OT applicable after 40 work hours in workweek).
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
  • Pay is determined by school of study and year in school.
  • Student will be eligible for up to $125 rebate for steel-toed shoes.
  • Student will be required to create a presentation of their project/assignment at the end of assignment.
