Position Summary:

We are currently seeking early career Civil / Structural Engineer 1/2 to support the design team by performing the duties related to the successful completion and delivery of projects and tasks. Assignments typically include a combination of on-site and office duties. The successful candidate will be exposed to all phases of project development and have demonstrated skills in highway/ transportation, structural, drainage, site development, and other public works improvements. Excellent communication and organizational skills are required as well as the ability to multi-task and work independently and in a team.

While working to achieve objectives, the successful candidate will: ensure all activities and operations are performed in a safe and deliberate manner through maintaining required safety, security, and operational training. Making safety, security and quality an integral part of every task including taking the necessary steps to pause or stop work as necessary to ensure the safety and security of personnel and the job site.

Essential Job Functions (may include, but are not limited to):

* Must be able to obtain a Security Clearance, and as such, US Citizenship is required.

Responsibilities/ Duties (may include, but are not limited to):

* Support field investigations and assessments. Collect data and gather information or documents. Perform standard computations or analysis. Prepare drawings and visual aids.

* Perform occasional drafting and/or figure development using technical software as required.

* Apply prescribed techniques and procedures in accordance with established criteria to perform assigned tasks.

* Assist in the design of various types of civil engineering activities which include but not limited to plan production, site layouts, grading and drainage, paving, site utilities, and preparation of specifications.

* Participate in the writing and the production of project reports, forms, policies and procedures.

* Work under the direct guidance and mentorship of senior engineers.

Education and Experience Required:

Level 1: Bachelors in Science degree in Civil and/or Structural Engineering, or related fields from an ABET-accredited college or university. Experience with Autodesk design platforms, preferably Civil3D is a plus.

Level 2: Meets requirements of Level 1. A minimum of two (2) years relevant experience; preferably in construction plan production, design calculations, and technical writing. EIT Certification is a plus.

Business Associations:

Level 1: Contacts are primarily with immediate supervisor, project leaders, and other professionals in the section or group.

Level 2: Primarily internal company contacts, infrequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts on routine matters.

Impact:

Level 1: Contributes to completion of routine technical tasks. Failure to achieve results can normally be overcome without serious effect on schedules and programs.

Level 2: Contributes to completion of milestones associated with specific projects. Failure to achieve results or erroneous decisions or recommendations may cause delays in program schedules and may result in allocation of additional resources.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

Normally assigned to perform work in an office environment with occasional field work. Electrical hazards and other minor potential hazards normally found in an office environment are anticipated. Minor hazards normally found in a northern New Mexico field data collection environment are anticipated. Job performance requires adequate visual acuity and manual dexterity for meeting the requirements of the discipline. Office and field work environment.

Safety, Security, and Quality

While working to achieve objectives, the Civil/ Structural Engineer 1/2 will ensure all activities and operations are performed in a safe and deliberate manner to include protecting the confidentiality and integrity of Personally Identifiable Information (PII). This role will maintain required safety, security and operational training; assure procedural and regulatory compliance; and make safety, security and quality an integral part of every task; including taking the necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or compromises security. Ability to obtain an L level Department of Energy security clearance.
