Job Summary Provides classroom training and student assessment in basic HVAC/construction courses in person at Arizona State Prison Complex (ASPC) - Lewis, Buckeye. Assists in planning, developing, training and evaluating of outcome-based curriculum in construction-HVACr and is an introduction to common construction skills to include safety, codes, construction drawings, tools, air conditioning, heating, and ventilation. Regularly engages in student assessment, registration, orientation and other related duties. Responsible for maintaining accurate student records, required forms and documents and engaging in regular view of student progress data. Essential Functions 70% - Provides student assessment and classroom training in construction-HVACr courses to incarcerated students. Courses include Foundation of Construction Safety, Hand and Power Tools, Equipment and Workspace, Construction Calculations, Construction Drawings Introduction, HVACr: Residential HVACr Systems, Installations, and Troubleshooting 10% - Assists in planning, developing and implementing outcome-based construction-HVACr courses 10% - Develops written syllabi, course outlines and student evaluations when required 10% - Evaluates and selects instructional materials appropriate to class and environment; performs other duties as directed to meet Arizona Department of Corrections (ADC) contract requirements Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED and five years of experience in area of assignment. Some assignments may require an Associate's Degree, Bachelor's Degree or higher depending on field of instruction. There is no substitution or equivalency allowable for the High School Diploma or GED. Desired Qualifications A. Authorized OSHA outreach trainer B. Two (2) or more years of experience working with incarcerated individuals (job location is in a prison) C. Teaching, training, or supervisory experience in the construction-HVACr trades/field D. Experience developing instructional content or curriculum for college students Special Working Conditions Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D driver's license is required; must meet minimum standards regarding driving: http://www.maricopa.edu/legal/rmi/vehicle.htm#requirements . Travel to campus during interview/selection process will be at candidate's own expense. Will be required to travel or be assigned to all MCCCD locations. May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen. Will be required to obtain an Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation and Reentry ( ADCRR) clearance. Process may involve personally invasive questionnaire, and extensive background check. Position in located at ASPC Lewis in Buckeye, AZ.
