The Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. School of Education was created in 2003 and is accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Education Preparation (
CAEP). Fisher is among just 24 providers in New York state with
CAEP accreditation. The School provides degree options at the undergraduate, master's, and doctoral levels to prepare education professionals for certification as well as teaching and leadership careers in schools, elementary through high school. With the School's emphasis on social justice, graduates learn how to engage their own students as they develop, making a lasting impact on individual lives and the greater community. The Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. School of Education at St. John Fisher University, Rochester, New York, is committed to excellence in teaching, scholarship, advisement, and service. The School of Education is seeking qualified applicants for a two-year position (with possibility of renewal) of Site Director and Visiting Assistant Professor for the Doctorate of Education in Executive Leadership at its extension site at Iona University in New Rochelle, NY.
Fisher's Doctorate of Education (Ed.D.) in Executive Leadership prepares students for executive leadership roles within complex organizations including non-profit, health, business, P-12 schools, and higher education institutions. Through course work, applied research, and executive mentorship students within our program develop strategies to solve complex challenges and improve organizational environments through a social justice lens. Our philosophy of social justice is characterized by five interlocking tenets: Diversity, Achievement, Compassion, Knowledge, and Service (
DACKS). Graduates of our program have gone on to serve in roles such as Health Administrator, Senior Project Manager, Principal, Superintendent, Associate Provost, Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, Executive Director, Chief Executive Officer, and College
President.
The Site Director oversees the management and operations of the Ed.D. Program at the extension site at Iona University in New Rochelle, NY. Reporting to the Department Chair the site director functions as the liaison on academic, faculty, and candidate recruitment matters. The site director is responsible for managing the day-to-day functionality of the office at the extension site. They also assign full-time extension site faculty and adjuncts to courses as well as to dissertation committees. The site director leads a variety of trainings to support program operations as well as provide faculty guidance in the handling of such matters as academic dishonesty, candidate withdrawals, review of candidate GPAs, and candidates at risk of program removal due to academic standing. The site director leads, manages, and coordinates the marketing, recruitment and enrollment management components at the extension site with support from the main campus.
The responsibilities of the Visiting Assistant Professor include teaching hybrid and online doctoral-level courses in the Executive Leadership Program, supervising doctoral students in field-based experiences, advising doctoral students in their dissertations, serving on dissertation committees, serving on department and college-wide committee assignments, and participating in scholarly activity (conference presentations and/or papers, conducting research, grant writing, and/or publishing peer-reviewed scholarship). |
Education / Experience |
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. or Ed.D. in executive leadership, educational leadership, organizational development, public administration, public health or comparable field from an accredited higher education institution
- Demonstrated potential for teaching excellence, research, advisement and service
- Demonstrated commitment to the mission of the School of Education
- Understanding of various research methodologies and applied research, especially quantitative
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others and adaptable to change
- Successful leadership experience with an understanding of the policies, best practices, challenges, and opportunities in complex organizations
- Experience working with and leading diverse populations
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of three years full-time teaching experience in an accredited higher education institution
- Doctoral level chairing and advisement experience in an accredited higher education institution
- Experience in an accelerated doctoral program
- Demonstrated skills in instructional technology and teaching in hybrid/online modalities
- Scholarly research with demonstrated potential in conference presentations or publications
