THE POSITION

The Department of Transportation is on the lookout for a candidate to fill the role of Roadway Programs Technician 1. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will oversee the functions of the storeroom, which encompass preparing purchase requests for necessary supplies, receiving and storing parts, distributing items, and conducting inventory management tasks. You will also play a key role in evaluating work plans to ensure that they are well-balanced and that the required labor, materials, equipment, and financial resources are available for successful execution. Additionally, you will assist in making necessary adjustments to these work plans as situations evolve.

Your responsibilities will include reviewing and analyzing data from the Systems, Applications, and Products (SAP) Plant Maintenance and Roadway Management Systems to ensure that program objectives are met and that overall system control is upheld. You will also assist in verifying the accuracy of foreman payrolls, utilizing reports to track work data such as completed production units, man-hours, equipment usage, and material consumption, while addressing any discrepancies that arise.

Furthermore, you will monitor work data to ensure adherence to MAPI measures and provide recommendations for organizational improvements. Your role will involve overseeing maintenance operations in the field to confirm compliance with established maintenance standards and conducting field studies to collect data for the development of work standards. Lastly, you will assist in managing the materials aspect of the SAP Plant Maintenance and Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) Systems for the county, facilitating the purchase, receipt, storage, and distribution of bulk materials and garage storeroom items to ensure resource availability and optimize resource utilization.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Work hours may vary based on seasonal requirements.
  • This position may require travel and overtime.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Clearfield.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience as a Technical Assistant; or
  • One year of experience in analysis of data utilized in planning and scheduling of work, materials and equipment and graduation from high school or GED equivalent; or
  • An Associate's Degree in a field of Business Administration, Computer Science, Highway Engineering Technology or other closely related program; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
