Overview

The Vermont Veterans' Home (VVH) is seeking to hire part-time Behavioral Health Aides for positions within the Behavioral Health department. These temporary positions work closely with the Licensed Clinical Social Work team to implement Behavioral Health treatment plans and interventions based on best practice for mental health, trauma, and dementia care. Incumbents will be responsible for assisting with progress notes and other daily paperwork and/or data entry. This is a part-time position working 20 hours per week including some weekends.

This position, Behavioral Health Aide(#51245), is open to all State employees and external applicants.This is a temporary position. Temporary work is typically for variable hours and is not expected to be full-time. The State does not guarantee 40 hours of work per week.

Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position, including Vermont and national criminal record checks, adult and child abuse registry checks, the Office of Inspector General exclusion database, and motor vehicle driving record checks where applicable.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed in a long-term care setting involving elderly and/or disabled Veterans, their spouses and Gold Star Mothers. Direct interaction with Veteran/Member is extensive, leading to potential exposure to infectious disease or physical injury. Good physical health is required for rendering physical assistance to and transporting and moving residents. Depending on duties assigned, some outings might be necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

No specific education or experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in a nursing home, healthcare setting, mental health setting or with older adults/Veterans.

Experience facilitating therapeutic activities with groups of any age.
