Overview

Advances the mission of St. Luke's Foundation by increasing the level of involvement and philanthropic support from donors and prospects. Responsible for managing a portfolio of 175 (or more) gift prospects through identification, cultivation and solicitation of unrestricted and restricted gifts that may be planned or current. Plans and executes strategies to market planned gift vehicles, utilizing Foundation programs and planned giving seminars. Provides oversight and assists with planning of the Koehler Legacy Society's annual event. Solicits gifts of $5,000 and above modeling a moves management strategy to build a major gifts program. Also leads/manages major capital campaigns. Reports to the President of St. Luke's Foundation and works collaboratively with Foundation staff, the Foundation board and internal/external constituents.

Responsibilities

Portfolio Management and Fundraising

  • Manage a portfolio of 175 or more prospects (corporate and individual) and conduct personal visits, phone calls, tours and other meaningful interactions to qualify, cultivate, solicit, ultimately securing major and planned gifts.
  • Maintain accurate and meaningful constituent records utilizing a Customer Relationship management system.
  • Collaborate with the President and Foundation Board on prospect and donor research. Be accountable for growth in the prospect pool for future relationship cultivation.
  • Assist with the planning and coordination of all major capital campaigns.
  • Provide opportunities to educate Foundation Board members in fundraising activities.

Planned Giving

  • Build professional resources in the community who may advise on specific giving vehicles and additionally be a source of referrals.
  • Establish a planned giving committee to provide presentations/seminars to targeted groups.
  • Responsible for identifying and securing prospects for the estate planning program and stewarding donors who result from this program.
  • Assist in the development of materials that promote and enhance the work of the foundation and participate in the planning of donor recognition and cultivation events.

Educational Outreach

  • Orchestrate educational opportunities for key members of the organization - physicians, executive team, board members in the cultivation/solicitation/stewardship process.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum five years professional fundraising development with proven record of achievement in planned giving and/or major donor initiatives.
  • Experience either in a staff or board member role of a non-profit organization.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Professional image.
  • Ability to interact with staff, physicians, donors and volunteers at all levels.
  • Ability to establish priorities.
  • Knowledge of the healthcare environment.
  • Ability to market, identify and close gifts.

  • Working knowledge of planned giving vehicles.
  • Familiar with database management.
  • Experienced solicitor of major/planned gifts.
