Job Description

Five Colleges, Incorporated (FCI) seeks a Civil Rights and Title IX Investigator to help the member institutions of the Five College Consortium realize their commitment to fostering safe and respectful campus climates free of unlawful discrimination, harassment, and sex and gender-based misconduct.

Working with multiple on- and off-campus stakeholders, the Civil Rights and Title IX Investigator executes prompt, effective, and remedial investigative responses to reports or complaints of discrimination and harassment in accordance with each member institution's policies and procedures. The Investigator also performs tasks under the umbrella of civil rights compliance, including: record-keeping, training and outreach, and other related duties.

This is a full-time, exempt, benefited position with Five Colleges, Incorporated. The primary work location for this in-person role is FCI's main office in Amherst, Massachusetts, but requires frequent in-person interaction with individuals on multiple campuses in the consortium.

FCI is the higher education consortium that supports the excellence of our member campuses - Amherst, Hampshire, Mount Holyoke, and Smith Colleges, and the University of Massachusetts Amherst - through extensive academic and administrative collaborations.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

You could be a great fit for this position if you:

  • Have experience conducting investigations and/or adjudicating matters

  • Know the federal and state civil rights laws and regulations (Title IX, Title VI, Title VII, VAWA, the MA Campus Sexual Assault law, the Clery Act, ADA/504, EEO, and others)

  • Can understand and apply differing sets of campus policies and procedures

  • Write clear and thorough investigative reports

  • Demonstrate impeccable and accurate record-keeping skills

  • Interact with others with respect, care, and sensitivity, especially when navigating difficult matters
