Responsibilities to Anticipate for this Role
The Wire Harness Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for providing technical support and direction to production and development of manufacturing processes to ensure a quality product that is on time and within budget for our Grand Rapids, MI location. The manufacturing engineer will monitor and identify opportunities for improvement that increase productivity and product quality. The ideal candidate will have a natural drive to improve processes and the ability to collaborate with a dynamic team on projects that improve the way defense products work around the world.
  • Analyze existing systems and processes to identify and reduce non-value-added activities to improve the manufacturing throughput of wire harness assemblies
  • Conceive, design, and develop manufacturing processes for introduction of new products
  • Create and maintain required documentation for manufacturing processes, including work instructions, flow charts, capacity and utilization studies, time and motion studies, cycle time analysis, and line balancing
  • Hands-on approach to problem solving and
  • Conduct employee training for productivity improvement projects, and mentor production personnel
  • Utilize lean manufacturing methodologies to eliminate waste
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Uphold the company's reputation by delivering innovative solutions while adhering to local and national regulations


Required Skills & Qualifications
  • BS Electrical, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering preferred; BS in related Technical / Engineering fields or associate's degree in related Technical / Engineering field with relevant work experience considered.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering preferred
  • Understanding of wire harness manufacturing desirable
  • Demonstrated knowledge of lean manufacturing principles
  • Hands-on experience building small prototypes
  • Ability to collaborate with program managers, production supervisors, customers, and department managers to provide daily direction and guidance to production associates
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Office 365, Zuken (AutoCAD & SolidWorks desirable)
