POSITION TYPE: Seasonal / Part time WAGE RANGE: $15 - $18 / hour DOE SUPERVISORY: No SUPERVISED BY: Special Events Manager POSITION SUMMARY: Weekend, Friday evening and holiday work primarily on Saturdayon NASTAR race venue. Applicants should be 16 years or older. ESSENTIAL FUNCTONS: Schweitzer is looking for someone with a ski racing background to set course and pace time for our NASTAR public race arena. This is a part time position perfect for an individual looking to get their pass, be a part of the Schweitzer family, but still have plenty of time to free ski. Specific tasks include skiing or snowboarding the NASTAR racecourse to establish par time for the day, course-setting, venue preparation and tear-down, timing, course maintenance, racecourse gatekeeping, fencing setup and teardown, sign placement, guest awareness and crowd control. Depending on the applicant, there is potential for more shifts/hours as part of the Events Crew or as few as 2 hours/shift. PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS: This is an active, on-mountain skiing/snowboarding position with some standing/walking position for up to 8 hours each shift. May lift up to 100lbs occasionally and up to 50lbs often. Assistance is available for heavy lifting. Workers will bend, squat, kneel, climb, twist, and reach above shoulder level on an occasional basis. Will use hands for grasping and pushing/pulling at a 25 - 30 lb level. Worksite is 10% inside and 90% outside. Exposed to all temperatures and all moisture ranges. Hazards are mechanical, electrical, and ice/snow. Uniforms are supplied. Sensory skills of vision, hearing, touch, smell, and speech are needed. Must be able to maintain control and rational demeanor in emotionally charged situations involving guests and/or employees in situations that may have an audience.Will ski/snowboard carrying heavy loads. Will shovel snow. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: Must be able to provide an extensive understanding of the mountain area as well as the services of Schweitzer Mountain. Must be available to work varying hours and days. JOB SPECIFICATIONS: SKILLS: Must have ski/snowboard racing experience Preferred to have a 15 or lower NASTAR handicap within the last 3 years. Excellent guestand employee relations Accomplished skiing or snowboarding skills Basic computer skills EDUCATION: English, reading, writing, communication; basic math EXPERIENCE: Outdoor working experience, race experience preferred LICENSE NEEDED: None MACHINES OR TOOLS OPERATED: Shovels, rakes, drills, PA systems, timer, computer JUDGEMENT / MENTAL COMPLEXITY: Moderate REVIEW SCHEDULE:This position and the individual filling it will be evaluated once a season.
