POSITION SUMMARY Fountain House is seeking a Program Director to co-create with our community our first young adult housing program-YACHT (Young Adult Community Housing Team). The goal of the program will be to build a sense of community and connection between 25 young people with mental illness while assisting them to build skills needed to live independently. The YACHT Director will supervise and coordinate the efforts of 3 staff while also getting input and support from the residents of the program. Our belief at Fountain House is that connection other people, place and purpose are essential for all people, and necessary to recover from the effects of mental illness. There will be no typical day in YACHT, but if you could see yourself building a team of professionals and members and supporting and coordinating them to fix up an apartment, facilitating a community meeting, or cooking a group meal this might be the position for you. Along with these responsibilities, the YACHT Director will need to support people going through psychiatric crisis, maintain compliance with documentation, and coordinate with a variety of stakeholders. Salary: $85,000
Requirements
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise three staff, provide weekly supervision, guidance, training, coaching and bi-weekly staff meetings.
- Supervise staff and assist members to acquire the real-life skills and knowledge on their recovery journey
- Ensure apartments are dignified, respectful and safe and operating at Fountain House and Office of Mental health (OMH) standards.
- Develop strong working relationships with Landlords and superintendents to guarantee all repairs are completed in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with clinical supports, OMH, families and families of choice as needed and in partnership with members.
- Engage with members in their apartments around real-life skills, fire safety, socializing and building community within the program and neighborhood.
- Ensure all member's program files are up to Fountain House and Office of Mental Health Standards (OMH), review progress notes, service plans, and all other required documentation.
- Update policy and procedures as needed.
- Involved in the clubhouse as part of collaborative care, provide support in areas needed, and participate in events.
- Other assigned duties as necessary or required.
- 24/7 coverage is required.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Experience in community building a plus-organizing communities, building culture, conflict resolution, etc.
- Strong creativity and problem-solving ability.
- Positive, energetic, dynamic, and engaging personality.
- Working knowledge with Serious Mental Illness (SMI), including substance use, and other psychosocial factors.
- Strong communication, writing, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and provide leadership to members and staff.
- Knowledge of New York City housing and resources.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND CREDENTIALS:
- Master's degree in social work (MSW) or related field
