Description

Under minimal supervision, the Business Development Officer makes sales calls to life insurance agents and financial advisors to understand the client needs, customize solutions that will benefit the customer. Under minimal supervision, responsible for relationship management and growth of the life insurance lending division, working within guidelines established by the company. Performs other projects and duties as assigned.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:

* Source and develop premium finance and cash surrender value lines of credit opportunities via brokerage and advisory channels (or relationships) in assigned territory.

* Develop personal sales/marketing plan in collaboration with Managing Director, Life Insurance Lending.

* Maintain information on market trends, successes, challenges, and opportunities.

* Maintain CRM prospect and opportunity data; leverage data/analytics to drive production.

* Up to 50% travel throughout assigned territory to foster and develop relationships leveraging in-person and video conferencing tools, as appropriate.

* Assist in creation of marketing pieces and presentations.

* Incumbent is responsible for expanding their relationships by cross selling the Banks products and services, when appropriate, to include wealth management opportunities.

* Demonstrates effective sales strategies to attract, expand and retain customer relationships.

* Initiate, provide, and receive communication with customers to ensure and maintain a satisfactory business relationship.

* Apply a high level of business acumen and risk management expertise to assess the viability of loan and deposit opportunities.

* Represent the bank in business development efforts and at industry conferences, civic and community functions.

* Develop, retain, and apply knowledge of company policies and procedures and adjust according to changing market conditions or risk assumptions.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:

* Self-starter who drives for results independently with minimal supervision

* Proficiency with MS Office and CRM tools

* Finance/Credit background is a plus

* Proven track record of setting metrics and achieving results

* Ability to work effectively with other disciplines and all levels of management/staff throughout the organization

* Ability to problem-solve and work autonomously

* Excellent communication skills, both oral and written

* Ability to utilize good judgment and creativity, as well as critical thinking skills to ensure all procedures and processes are followed

Industry and Work Experience:

* Minimum of 5 years' production-based sales experience with demonstrated success in life insurance lending, financial advisory, wealth management, and/or financial planning.

Academic:

* High school diploma or GED required.

* Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
