Title: Ferrous Material Handler

Classification: Non-Exempt (overtime elgible)

Reports To: Ferrous Supervisor

Position Type: Full-time

1st Shift: Monday - Friday, 7:00AM - 3:30PM, Overtime as required

Pay Rate: $19+/hour, depending on education and experience; additional bonuses available

SUMMARY

The Ferrous Material Handler is responsible for loading and unloading solid materials using hoisting attachments, a torch, or other equipment, as well as moving bulk material around the yard.

Essential Functions (Other duties may be assigned and management retains the discretion to add, delete, or change the duties at any time).



  • Identify and separate materials to properly place them in designated areas for processing
  • Perform daily inspections of equipment and reports and potential issues to maintenance
  • Operate other yard vehicles including but not limited to dump trucks and roll off trucks as required
  • Ensure all yard roads and path-ways are clear of debris and loose material
  • Maintain a safe work environment and ensures all OSHA regulations and Company safety polices are followed at all times


  • Must be able to communicate effectively: read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos including safety rules, and follow ISO work instructions and procedures
  • Must be able to interact in person with coworkers and the public
  • Must be able to handle high stress situations
  • Must be able to work independently and adapt to frequent delays and unexpected events
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance


Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience



  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent (required)
  • 1-3 months of previous related experience (required)


Skills and Abilities



  • Familiarity with computer systems and applications

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required in the production department and other designated areas.
