  • Renders professional nursing care for employees and auxiliary members for occupational and non-occupational illnesses and injuries while on the job.
  • Assists with establishing the standard of practice in occupational health and safety for employees and their patients. Serves as a resource to all hospital departments, medical staff and community as it relates to mitigating disease transmission.
  • Performs pre-employment and annual medical evaluations for employees and auxiliary members, both adolescent and adult; may refer employee for further evaluation or follow-up.
  • Explains policies related to injuries, illnesses, and possible exposures while on the job.
  • Provides testing to medical staff, students, and contracted staff on an as needed basis.
  • Dispenses over-the-counter medication per department policy.
  • Counsels client population on health and work related issues.
  • Assesses the employee's needs related to wellness.
  • Reviews employee injury and illness reports, and follows department protocols for assessment, treatment and follow-up; interfaces with other departments to obtain and share information regarding employee status; completes a detailed monthly report of injuries, exposures, and needle sticks.
  • Assist with the ongoing development, implementation, and evaluation of the Employee Health Program.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES, LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:

  1. Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  2. Licensed as a RN in the State of Georgia in good standing without limitations.
  3. Must hold Certified in American Heart Association's Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS).

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION PREFERRED:

  1. BSN degree
  2. Two (2) years of experience as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN).
  3. One (1) year of experience in Occupational Health or Public Health Nursing,
  4. Additional Life Support credential (ACLS, PALS, NRP, etc.) or other clinical specialty certifications in specific units including the Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN).
  5. Visual color acuity depending on the role in specific units.
