THE JOB: The Hotel Sales Manager is responsible to screen and secure group bookings for MGM Resorts International properties. Rooms and Catering revenue will be the primary measurement. All tasks must be carried out in alignment with the policies, practices, and procedures of the department and MGM Resorts International. You will play a vital role in our mission to own the guest's experience and create WOW memories that they will carry with them far beyond their stay with us. THE DAY-TO-DAY:
- Manage incoming leads for prospective business, provides sales, services and coordination of group events on behalf of MGM Resorts
- Develop sales opportunities with strategic partners to grow event revenue opportunities
- Evaluates the viability of proposed business and provides recommendations to the corporate executive team
- This position is responsible for identifying new and repeat group/convention business.
- Researches and generates convention and hotel bookings in an assigned market and achieves an effective sales goal in room night quotas, telephone calls, site inspections, lead room nights and correspondence
- Creates awareness and actively sells MGM Resorts International through actively seeking out opportunities for Sales trips, attends conferences, tradeshows, and networking meetings to promote convention business and drive repeat business
- Hosts prospective clients visiting to the properties including customer entertainment such as dining in hotel restaurants and accompanying clients to shows
- Develops and implements recommendations to maximize revenue streams at MGM Resorts International properties
- Develop and leverage relationships with clients, property Catering, AV, and Convention Sales and Services
- Maintain an understanding of property meeting space, outlets, and venue capabilities for group/convention opportunities
- Responsible for ensuring databases are up to date with status and client follow up is timely
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
- Must be able to work various shifts, including weekends and all holidays
- One (1) year or prior relevant experience to include contracting sleeping rooms, meeting space, and food & beverage minimums
- Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all stakeholders
- Organizational skills to function effectively under time constraints, within established deadlines and with attention to detail
- Maintain a professional image and enthusiastic demeanor at all times, especially when traveling on business
- Proficient in PC software (to include but not limited to: Stratus, Windows, Excel, MS Word, Daylight, Amadeus, Delphi and Microsoft Exchange)
- Effective listening abilities with strong judgment skills
- Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and verbal forms
