We are currently seeking a highly motivated Consumer & Home Equity Lending Specialist who will serve as a key resource for assisting members with consumer and home equity loan applications, loan processing, disbursement, and post-closing functions. This position ensures timely and accurate handling of all loan-related activities while providing excellent member service and maintaining compliance with federal regulations and SDFCU policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Process and transmit completed loan packages through the lending system (MeridianLink).
  2. Disburse home equity loans and verify post-closing documents.
  3. Maintain current knowledge of home equity lending programs and handle member inquiries.
  4. Track and reconcile fees associated with loans.
  5. Provide backup for Consumer Loan Processors during high volume periods.
  6. Review and complete loan applications, ensuring compliance with regulations and internal policies.
  7. Communicate with members to address loan conditions, approvals, or denials.
  8. Participate in departmental meetings and recommend procedural improvements.
  9. Work a rotating Saturday schedule and attend special offsite events as required.
Required Skills and Competencies:
  1. Associate degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field required
  2. Minimum of two years of experience in real estate closing/post-closing and consumer lending processing preferred
  3. At least two years of customer service experience with proven sales and service skills
  4. Familiarity with Microsoft Office products, MeridianLink, and Episys preferred
  5. Strong understanding of lending laws and federal regulations governing mortgages, consumer loans, and credit cards
  6. Excellent oral and written communication skills
  7. Strong organizational abilities with keen attention to detail
  8. Demonstrated ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  9. Ability to work independently and use sound judgment to prioritize tasks effectively
  10. Demonstrated success in meeting production goals and maintaining high-quality standards
