PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION: The Benefits and Leave Specialist is responsible for assisting and planning the day-to-day operations of leaves, benefits and wellness programs (group health, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability, life insurance, travel, flexible spending plan, retirement plans, etc.). In addition to fulfilling a key role in the delivery of the RT employee experience that is consistent across the company; strives to provide outstanding customer service, problem resolution, and administrative support through standardized process execution. PAY: $85,000 - $100,000 LOCATION & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: This is a hybrid position which requires on site work in Mendota Heights 3 days per week. This position will include heavy travel in the US for open enrollment in the month of October. MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY: Human Resources: (40%)
- Workday Help Tickets: helps triage and answer the General HR, Leave of Absence and Benefits tickets. Reads, responds, organizes, and manages Workday Help for Benefits, General HR, and Leave of Absence. Assists employees with leave and benefit questions such as leave entitlement, PTO, disability, benefits enrollment, coverage, and premium deductions.
- Manage and facilitate weekly New Hire Onboarding.
- Assist with unemployment claims to ensure timely responses and gathers any supporting documentation.
- Manage, follow-up, and fulfill corrections of incomplete I-9s; incorrect SSNs; E-Verify issues, incorrect or outdated direct deposit; and/or missing life event or dependent verification.
- Respond to basic legal requests including audits (401k, state, payroll, etc.) and subpoena for records; escalates to HR Leadership Team, as needed.
- Assures timely and accurate processing of human resources information including new hires, terminations, demographic changes, and benefit enrollment events & verifications.
- Gather employees' employment data such as hours, work duties, changes in status, corrective action plans, resignation letters, and performance reviews to support unemployment claims and requests for HR and Legal.
Benefits & Leave Administration: (40%)
- Works closely with third party leave administrator to assist with all federal and state leaves and short-term disability / long-term disability claims.
- Coordinates the leave administration functions and process, which includes FMLA, personal leave, paid parental leave, short-term/long-term disability, military, workers compensation, any applicable state required leaves, as well as ADA.
- Assists with return-to-work process and helps support DOT compliance team.
- Collaborates with payroll team to complete medical support notices and all correspondence to the state and employee, paid parental leave pay, outstanding benefit premium balances, and other LOA tasks as needed.
- Manage all benefit-related transactions and processes for daily benefits administration.
- Performs reconciliations and quality checks of benefits eligibility data.
- Assist with special projects and Open Enrollment as needed.

- Stays abreast of industry trends and seeks out opportunities to apply innovative solutions to assigned programs. Makes recommendations focused on delivering high-quality, cost-effective programs to address the benefit needs of our employees.
- Proactively evaluates internal processes and makes recommendations to ensure for greater employee experience.
REQUIREMENTS
- Solid understanding of HR, Leave and Benefits practices, process, and systems (Workday strongly preferred) including formal education in Human Resources or 3-5 years of HR, Benefits, and Leave of Absence experience.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state labor laws, FMLA, ADA, state leaves and benefit plans.
- Ability to work in a team environment: team player.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with creativity, problem solving, poise, and a high level of emotional intelligence.
- Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality.
- Proficient in MS Office and communication technology.
- Willingness to travel weekly for open enrollment in October.
- Willingness to work onsite in Mendota Heights at least 3 days per week; to include Monday's is strongly preferred.
