Job Summary

The Digital Campaigns Intern will work closely with the Director of External Mobilization, the Digital Communications Specialist, and the entire External Mobilization team at API. This role offers an immersive experience in digital communications, grassroots mobilization, and advocacy campaigns. The intern will play a key role in executing campaigns across multiple platforms, contributing to the team's strategic goals and helping drive the success of digital engagement initiatives.

Through this internship, the candidate will gain valuable, hands-on experience in content creation, campaign strategy, and digital tools, while developing a deeper understanding of grassroots advocacy and the role of digital communications in shaping public policy. The intern will also have opportunities to refine their professional writing, project management, and analytical skills in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Projects and Tasks

  • Work directly with the Digital Communications Specialist to create and edit copy for email campaigns, social media posts, website updates, and other advocacy materials.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining a digital content calendar to ensure timely execution of campaigns.
  • Help manage social media platforms, including drafting posts, scheduling content, and monitoring engagement.
  • Support the development of engaging graphics for organic communications across social media and other digital platforms to enhance audience engagement and amplify key messages
  • Assistance with texting program message sending/responding to responses.
  • Contribute creative ideas to enhance campaign strategies and drive audience engagement.
  • Monitor trends and identify new opportunities for online engagement within the energy policy landscape.
  • Participate in team meetings and provide updates on assigned projects.

Qualifications

  • Working towards a degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Political Science or related field

Candidates should have a strong interest in digital communication and advocacy, with a passion for creating content that engages and mobilizes audiences. While prior professional experience is not required, familiarity with social media platforms, email marketing, or website content management is helpful. Strong writing, editing, and organizational skills are essential, along with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. An interest in public policy, grassroots advocacy, and the role of the oil and natural gas industry in powering the economy is highly encouraged. Experience with tools like Salesforce, Canva, or similar platforms is a plus, but a willingness to learn and experiment with new digital tools is just as valuable.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to remain in a stationary position working on a computer
  • Move about the office to access office machinery, meeting rooms, etc.
  • Operate a computer and other office machinery such as printers and copy machines
  • Transport items and equipment up to 25 lbs. on occasion

Travel Requirements

  • Up to 25%
