Job Summary
B&A is looking for a
Systems Engineer to join a contract with a federal government client in support of an important mission. We are seeking a highly skilled
Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining complex systems to meet the organization's technical and operational needs. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to delivering reliable and efficient solutions.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop system architectures based on business requirements.
- Evaluate, integrate, and deploy hardware, software, and network solutions.
- Monitor and maintain system performance, security, and reliability.
- Perform system upgrades, patches, and backups as needed.
- Identify, diagnose, and resolve hardware, software, and network issues.
- Provide technical support to internal teams and stakeholders.
- Create and maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, processes, and procedures.
- Generate reports on system performance and recommend improvements.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure systems meet business needs.
- Collaborate with vendors and third-party providers for system integration and support.
- Ensure systems comply with organizational policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and recommend innovative solutions.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 8 years of experience as a Systems Engineer, Network Engineer, or similar role.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in system design and administration (e.g., Windows, Linux, or macOS).
- Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Familiarity with networking protocols and equipment (e.g., TCP/IP, routers, firewalls).
- Strong scripting and automation skills (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desired Skills
- Experience with DevOps tools and methodologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins).
- Knowledge of ITIL or similar service management frameworks.
- Expertise in monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Splunk, Prometheus).
- Familiarity with security frameworks and tools (e.g., SIEM, vulnerability management).
- Hands-on experience with enterprise storage systems (e.g., SAN, NAS).
- Ability to design and implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
