Job Description

Infection Prevention(IP) Data analyst is responsible for accurate data abstraction via EPIC to the CDC's National Healthcare Safety Network platform ( NHSN) for all reporting and analysis of the Healthcare Acquired Infection (HAI) data as needed to meet all reporting requirements as defined by the hospital, state, national and regulatory agencies. Supports the infection control department

1. Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson

2.Abstracts and analyze all Healthcare Acquired Infection (HAI) data from EPIC into National Healthcare Safety Network(NHSN) and NDNQI and ensures accuracy for regulatory and internal reporting. 25%

3. Provides NHSN data for internal dashboards including: Uploads Denominator Data, MDRO/Summary Data, Hospital Associated Infections (HAIs), Surgical Site Infections (SSIs), Procedures into NHSN by Organization ID)
Maintains NHSN database (adds Monthly Reporting Plans, completes data alerts for Missing Summary Items, Missing Events, Missing Associated Procedures and incomplete Summary Data). Troubleshoots issues and recommends best options to display required data.15%

4. Participating member of HAI Hospital Workgroups ( CAUTI, CLABSI, Cdiff, Hand Hygiene). Manages and provides analyzed data to the groups and maintains the data collection tools used by the front line staff.10%

5. Manages and updates HAI data for internal reporting to the ICC committee, committee reports, and other hospital required reports to leadership.10%

6.Oversees patient notification process of HAIs to ensure compliance with PA Act 52. Uploads reports to the appropriate regulatory agencies.10%

7. Abstracts, analyzes and creates dashboards and presentation of Value Based Purchasing data NHSN data.10%

8. Abstracts, analyzes and distributes all hand hygiene, healthcare associated infection, and isolation data to department and hospital leadership10%

10. Performs other duties as assigned.10%

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Proficiencies):

Strong computer skills, knowledge of medical terminology and experience with EPIC and NHSN preferred. Is self-directed, has excellent analytical and written communication skills. Is able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and multitask. Is proficient in time management and skilled in the development of presentations and displaying data in the most meaningful manner for end users.

Required Experience Education

Baccalaureate degree in business or clinical science. Minimum of 2 years with data analytics and data management, preferred.
