Job Summary: The Research Associate serves as an independent researcher, or a collaborator on a multi-scholar research initiative, and may have lead responsibility for discrete components of a larger project. Performs other duties as needed. The Advanced Imaging and Microscopy Core Facility is seeking a highly skilled Research and Development Microscopist to manage our state-of-the-art multi-user equipment and sophisticated image analysis software. The ideal candidate will possess advanced proficiency in fluorescent confocal microscopy, which is essential for this role. They should have extensive technical experience with various microscope systems, including widefield and advanced fluorescence microscopy techniques, and demonstrate the ability to optimize imaging parameters and troubleshoot complex microscopy issues. Responsibilities encompass managing and operating advanced microscopy equipment, training and assisting core users at multiple levels, conducting imaging studies in various basic and translational science projects, collaborating with researchers on diverse projects, and assisting with manuscript preparation and grant application development. Knowledge and Skills: Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position; Able to relate and communicate positively with faculty, staff, students, administration and others; Must possess working knowledge of internet-based and smart phone-based software enabling communication with research/program directors as well as research/program staff; Work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; collaborate and accept direction; think critically; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; excellent self-motivation, problem solve; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; work independently with minimal supervision; maintain high level of confidentiality and ethical integrity. Knowledge of quality, research regulatory requirements. Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position.
