Fincantieri Marinette Marine, a Fincantieri Marine Group Company, is a progressive shipyard specializing in building ships for the United States Navy. We currently have an opportunity for a Class Design Services (CDS) and Subcontract Manager at our Marinette, Wisconsin location.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Class Design Services (CDS) and Subcontract Manager, Engineering is responsible for assisting the CDS Technical Program Manager perform Class Design Services under all FMM Programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include assisting the CDS Technical Program Manager in all aspects of Class Design Services, including the following (other duties may be assigned):



  • Evaluate Technical Instructions (TI's) to determine FMM's ability to execute requirements, supervise team of Engineers to determine scope(s) of work, provide inputs to schedules, determine subcontractor support requirements and generate basis of estimates (BOE) and development of cost estimates.
  • Manage and coordinate cross functional teams of resident CDS engineers and subcontractors to ensure deliverables are produced accurately and on time.
  • Coordinate and conduct special studies, analysis, trade-off and documentation in support of all FMM Programs.
  • Coordinate with assigned technical teams to assess engineering and production problems and identify cost and schedule risks associated with changes to the ship design.
  • Supervise, review and approve development of Statements of Work for activities to be outsourced to non-FMM Engineering teams and provide oversight of all products being worked outside of FMM Engineering, to include development and presentations of key performance indicator metrics.
  • Evaluate engineering and production trade-offs and / or analyze alternate processes or alternate subsystems or equipment. Trade-off tasks may be developed as the result of Contractor review of shipbuilding problems or as the result of recommendations emanating from other work performed by the Contractor.
  • Supervise development of Engineering Change Proposals (ECP) in accordance with Configuration Management Plans and coordinate with Change and Risk Managers to ensure unity of effort.
  • Schedule and facilitate internal and external coordination meetings.
  • Generate, review and approve technical documentation, powerpoint briefings and Plans of Actions and Milestones (POA&M).
  • Attend and participate in meetings to support efforts involving design, production, feasibility and/or supportability.
  • Must abide by and enforce all organizational policies and procedures


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises 1 to 4 employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company's policies, procedures, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Demonstrates delegation skills and fosters a cooperative work environment. Demonstrates leadership skills that align with the mission, vision, and values of the Company.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee's workspace is in a clean and comfortable climate-controlled setting with little to no exposure to the moving equipment, elements, extreme conditions, or risk of injury. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. When entering the shipyard, the work environment is not climate-controlled and there is exposure to moving equipment, etc.
