Job Description

Position Title: Parks Superintendent

Hiring Range: $83,356 - $103,361

Primary responsibilities may include:



  • Administration of Parks and Recreation contracts including, but not limited to, Right of Ways contract, City Hall campuses and Trails.
  • Oversight of the Parks and Recreation open space areas, natural resources, washes, mountain and river trails, and other numerous related assets.
  • Selecting, training, supervising and evaluating staff engaged in city landscape.
  • Resolving customer service issues.
  • Managing expenditures, monitoring resources, preparing and delivering presentations of budgeting and forecasting.


Preferred/Desirable Qualifications:



  • Technical experience with geospatial information systems (GIS).
  • Three years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience in a municipal or government setting.

The purpose of this position is to support the development and implementation of best management practices in irrigation and contract landscape maintenance of City properties, streetscapes, parks and trail corridors. Develop programs for management and landscape maintenance contract administration including accountability measures, safety standards and innovative environmental procedures. The ideal candidate for this position will be:



  • Experienced with personnel supervision including timekeeping, approving requests for time off, etc.
  • Comfortable managing safety concerns, and ensuring city and department goals, policies and objectives are followed.
  • Experienced in scheduling and assigning tasks in staff workflow processes to measure performance and efficiency outcomes.
  • Experienced with interpreting data and documents, researching trends, recommending projects, reviewing plans, consulting with internal and external departments and agencies in the management or assistance with landscape, parks, trail and irrigation improvement projects.

Education:



  • Bachelor's degree in any field or equivalent.


Experience:



  • A minimum of five years of related experience.
  • Requires a broad knowledge of specialized practices, maintenance equipment, workflow systems and procedures.


Licenses and Certifications:



  • Playground Safety Certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Pesticide/Herbicide Applicators License within 6 months of hire
  • Backflow/Check Valve Certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Valid Driver's License upon hire.
