The EDS team is looking for an individual who will play a pivotal role in shaping Peoria's future by attracting businesses, creating quality jobs, and recruiting important amenities. The Economic Development Project Manager will manage, plan, organize, monitor, review and evaluate economic development projects and programs related to implementing economic development opportunities from inception to completion to impact the quality of life for residents and serve a vibrant community. The City of Peoria is at the forefront of innovative economic development strategies, and this team member will be involved in groundbreaking, transformative projects.

  • Demonstrated experience in organizational promotion and recruitment of qualified prospects.
  • Demonstrated experience in business attraction workflow management, including converting leads to located businesses.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and innovative ideas to spur economic development growth.
  • Experience preparing detailed analyses and technical information.
  • Strong pitching skills (part of the outreach includes cold calls).
  • A demonstrated ability to develop strategic partnerships and work with internal departments, regional partners, and the business community.
  • Demonstrated experience using multiple social media platforms to achieve results.

Other Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in business, marketing, economic development, real estate development, business administration, project management, or related field is required. Equivalency: Equivalent years of experience are equal to one (1) year of relevant experience for every one (1) year of education required.


  • Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in economic development, marketing, project management, and managing medium to high profile projects of medium to high complexity.



PREFERRED/DESIRABLE QUALIFICATION(s):



  • Proven ability in organizational promotion and recruitment of qualified prospects.
  • Proven business attraction workflow experience including converting leads to located businesses.
  • Combination of municipal/government and private sector experience.
  • Knowledge of planning and development services.
  • Proven ability in organizational promotion and recruitment of qualified prospects.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to include social media expertise.
  • Politically astute
