Position Summary:

Power Solutions International participates in E-Verify. We are currently not offering Sponsorship or Relocation Assistance for this role.

As an Assembly Technician you'll be reporting to the Group Lead and taking daily direction from the Team Lead. The Assembly Technician supports the enclosure assembly process, focusing on wiring enclosures to ensure quality control and proactively identify and resolve mechanical deficiencies. Flexibility is critical to this role as you will work across stations, product lines, plants, and daily tasks. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to wiring, troubleshooting, training Assemblers, communicating across the organization, documenting using Lean tools and methodologies, and providing process improvement recommendations.

Responsibilities:



  • Read and interpret basic electrical schematics, run conduit, terminate wires, install transformers and panelboards in enclosures
  • Problem solves, communicates, and escalates issues across functional areas (Quality, Maintenance, Materials, Purchasing, and Engineering) to identify root cause, resolve the challenge, and prevent future occurrences
  • Assemble or build components including electrical wiring to include electrical junction boxes, line connections, stop buttons, push buttons, safety switches, outlets, electrical motors, variable frequency drives, plc's, electrical sub-assemblies, and other electrical elements according to standardized work instructions using a wide variety of power or hand tools
  • Document unit progress and complete in-process check lists. Utilize and improve blue card and yellow methodologies to effectively manage the issues/deficiencies through resolution. Perform audits across a variety of functions including work instruction, process verification, and layered
  • Proactively train Assembly Team Members on how to perform standardized work using JIT processes and error proofing checks as well as maintaining an updated training matrix
  • When customers report issues, partner with the Manufacturing Engineering team to recreate the problem and solve it
  • Ensure production targets are met by assisting in identifying bottlenecks and constraints and performing training, assembly, or line realignment to alleviate the problem
  • Act as a Safety Ambassador, adhering to all safety policies including maintaining line organization and cleanliness utilizing 5S and WPO (Workplace Organization), performing TPM activities, and conducting preventative maintenance on tools and equipment
  • As needed, lift and/or carry up to 40 pounds of materials to assist in production
  • Learn and execute team lifts for items over 40 pounds
  • Adhere to all safety procedures including the use of personal protective equipment, navigating the plant with alert behavior, operating power tools and machines according to instructions, and disposing of waste properly


SHIFT/SCHEDULE:

1st shift: 5 AM- 3:30 PM

2nd shift: 4 PM- 12:30 AM or 2:30 AM.Must be flexible to train on 1st shift for 3 weeks.

Both roles are working Monday-Friday and every other Saturday.

Pay:

1st shift: $23/hr.

2nd shift: $25.00/hr. (this includes a $2/hour differential for working 2nd shift)

Requirements



  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience including the ability to apply math (fractions, ratios, measurements) and to read, comprehend, and convert instruction manuals/diagrams into work
  • Internally certified in process verification and detection testing systems; or the ability to become certified within 6 months
  • Success as an enclosure assembler especially as demonstrated through flexibility/adaptability to a wide range of work responsibilities, effective problem solving with a focus on delivering result, mechanical aptitude with a range of power tools, and high reliability
  • Communicates effectively with multiple functional teams, including providing documentation, to drive results and resolution of problems
  • Tech savvy with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
  • Willingness to travel and work across multiple local plant locations
