Job Description

Gain a wide range of experience through work within the Zurn Elkay Water Solutions Corporate Communications Department. The intern will be assigned projects to support communication and community outreach efforts. Under the direction of the Corporate Communications Senior Specialist, the intern will complete project work; write content for internal, external and social media communications; coordinate and participate in community volunteerism events; and leverage creative thinking to develop innovative communication solutions.

As a part of the intern program, you will have the opportunity to take advantage of the following:

  • Networking Events - Zurn Elkay hosts multiple networking opportunities in the Summer that give you exposure to other interns, the leadership team, and executive leaders.
  • Coaching and Mentoring - You will have a structured on boarding process to introduce you to Zurn Elkay's corporate culture and provide you with regular feedback.
  • Real Work Experience - Our internship process does not include getting coffee for your boss or running copies. We will provide you with a real opportunity to run reports, share your analysis, and improve our processes.

This position will be onsite in our Milwaukee, WI Headquarters.

Key Accountabilities

  • Writes and edits copy communications for materials such as internal announcements, intranet posts, web copy, press releases, presentations, social media posts etc.

  • Proofreads communications for grammar, spelling, punctuation, AP style, clarity and consistency.

  • Posts updates to Zurn Elkay Water Solution's internet and intranet sites; coordinate resolution of technical issues with support team.

  • Coordinates and participate in volunteer opportunities within the Milwaukee community that support the overall Community Affairs strategy.

  • Tracks media mentions of Zurn Elkay Water Solutions.

  • Participates in other Corporate Communications meetings and projects as appropriate.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Concurrent enrollment in a degree seeking program majoring in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, English or a related field.

  • 3.0 minimum GPA

  • Excellent communicator who is well organized and detailed-oriented

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work

  • Knowledge of Associated Press style

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to produce written documents that are clear and concise

  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
