Description

The Clinical Assistant is responsible for providing patient care to patients by assisting with diagnostic tests, procedures, and treatments ordered by the physician.

This is a part-time position working variable hours M-F. This role will support our Eagan, Maplewood, and St. Paul locations.

Pediatric and Young Adult Medicine is an operating division of Infinite Health Collaborative (i-Health), a group of local medical practices, owned and led by its physicians, on a mission to give patients more control over their healthcare.

Essential Functions:



  • Escorts the patient to the exam room, obtain vitals and document patient history.
  • Performs diagnostic testing under doctor supervision as ordered by the doctor.
  • Prepares room as needed for specified visit type.
  • Assist providers with pre/post op appointments and procedures
  • Processes referrals and schedules clinic appointments.
  • Retrieves calls regarding patient health problems, scheduling needs and documents and routes calls.
  • Calls in new prescriptions and refills to the pharmacy after provider has reviewed and approved.
  • Any and all other duties as assigned


Education and Experience Requirements:



  • High School diploma/GED or equivalent
  • Diploma or equivalent as a Medical Assistant, Military Medic, Certified Nursing Assistant, or Direct Support Professional Certifications preferred but not required
  • 1 -2 years of recent medical clinic experience preferred
  • Superior communication skills, detail oriented, and excellent direct patient care

    Essential Requirements:

    Ability to:



    • Complete the Certified Provider Order Entry (CPOE) upon hire if necessary
    • Comply with company policies, procedures, practices and business ethics guidelines.
    • Complete job required training.
    • Comply with all applicable laws and regulations, (e.g. HIPAA, Stark, OSHA, employment laws, etc.)
    • Demonstrate prompt and reliable attendance
    • Work in the clinic during business hours
    • Travel independently throughout the clinic (which may include movement from floor to floor); frequent bending, lifting, standing, stooping or sitting for long periods of time may be required
    • Work at an efficient and productive pace, handle interruptions appropriately and meet deadlines
    • Communicate and interact in a respectful and professional manner
    • Prioritize workload while being flexible to meet the expectations of the daily operations
    • Apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
    • Understand and execute a variety of instructions
    • Effectively operate equipment and communicate on and operate the phone system
    • Work independently with minimal supervision
    • Travel to other work locations, if required
