The Community Relations Coordinator will be responsible for implementing a portfolio of projects and activities in Jefferson Parish that enhance the corporate brand, educate local stakeholders on CF's values and goals, and advance business objectives. Specifically, the Community Relations Coordinator will oversee all community relations activities for CF in Jefferson Parish, including implementing comprehensive local outreach activities, special events, programming, and presentations to increase awareness of and support for CF in the community and our ESG Goals. This position reports directly to the Community Relations Manager. The successful candidate will provide integrated communications, outreach, and public affairs services support in Jefferson Parish, and as needed, in other parishes with a focus on community relations, community engagement, and community investment programs. This is a full-time position based in Jefferson Parish. Frequent travel within Jefferson Parish and to East Baton Rouge and other parishes will be required. Job Description:

Major Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement community engagement strategies that inform and educate the public on issues of importance to the company
  • Establish and maintain relationships with collaborative partners, including local policymakers, businesses, community and business groups, and the media
  • Implement a tactical plan for building and maintaining local programs and engagement activities in support of CF's mission and promote a positive impact on the community
  • Serve as point of contact responsible for sharing CF's vision with the local community
  • Serve as a key point of contact for local schools and non-profit organization partners
  • Implement, lead, and participate in community outreach programs and coordinate special events as appropriate
  • Attend relevant events and activities to represent the company and build strong relationships with key community members and other stakeholders
  • With oversight from the Community Relations Manager and Corporate Communications and Corporate Public Affairs, draft and distribute communications that promote the company as well as individuals and groups within it
  • In partnership with the Community Relations Manager, plan, coordinate, and execute public meetings and/or other public opportunities and help prepare public education outreach materials on projects
  • Collaborate with Community Relations Manager to support broader business communications strategies and address local concerns as needed
  • Foster goodwill and build trust with external and internal partners, including and CAPs which may be established
  • Assist in supporting communications during crisis events and drills
  • Identify traditional media and social media opportunities to enhance CF's local profile and promote engagement activities

Incumbent Attributes:

  • A minimum of five years of relevant public relations, community relations, and/or community outreach activities experience
  • Bachelor's degree (communications, marketing, business, journalism, public relations, political science, or any related field is preferred)
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and up-to-date care insurance
  • Extremely strong writing skills and ability to communicate and connect effectively
  • Knowledge of local community/region and community related issues
  • Understanding of and experience with new media
  • Ability to write compelling content for various channels
  • Demonstrated success in developing and delivering public relations strategies and plans in complex organization
  • Ability to plan and manage public-facing events
  • Must be able to manage quickly changing priorities and/or external events that impact business goals
  • Cultural sensitivity and ideal familiarization with the working environment of a large international organization
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to influence
  • Self-motivation, enthusiasm, and be a team player
  • Strong knowledge of social media and MS Office applications
  • The ability to manage multiple projects at a time
  • Legal authorization to work in the USA on a full-time basis
  • Ability to acquire a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
  • Ability to prove drug and alcohol free at random or for cause
  • Experience with industrial manufacturing preferred
