GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Oversee the banana ripening operations per the Customer SOPs, to ensure compliance with customer requirements.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS/DUTIES OF THE POSITION:

Regularly set and update program expectations and goals to grow business and proactively prevent customer issues. In conjunction, ensure the protocol of banana quality standard and make recommendations as necessary for process improvement.

Analyze production quality trends, establish forecast model based on historical data for product distribution, quality satisfaction meets customer's requirements, and ensure proper fruit allocation is secure for the ripening location. Based on trends, fruit behavior, and forecasting, make reasonable judgement around ripening decisions that meets customer requirements.

Provide on-site guidance of contingent workforce via weekly schedules to always ensure full coverage of the operations. Manage employee contingent workforce quality of work, as well as direct employee communicating relations issues to the respective contingent workers agency. Ensure employee work quality complies to operation SOPs. Responsible for the quality selection of talent as well as recommendation of talent termination

Oversee and maintain relationships with 3rd party logistics partners (i.e., warehouse management, labor decision makers) to ensure that ripening goals are met (i.e.: banana ripening/conditioning, product quality assurance, ethylene control production, and preventative maintenance programs for ripening room.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to lift and move 50lbs if applicable

Ability to stand for extended periods of time

Stooping, bending, twisting, lifting, pulling, pushing, and reaching, if applicable.

Ability to work safely in a warehouse setting or field location, including working around heavy equipment, such as forklifts

Ability to work in cold environments. Occasionally exposed to wet and/ or humid locations.

Exposure to food grade chemicals

Ability to determine and distinguish color variation

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

Proficiency in Microsoft Programs - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams

Excellent Communication Skills - Oral and Written

Strong understanding of mathematics and basic science concepts in chemistry and biology

WORK HOUR & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

* Perform work outside of normal business hours as required. Ability to work weekends, holidays, and overtime.

* Minimal travel required.

Required Experience

Advanced experience in banana ripening/conditioning, product quality standards and ethylene producing products. Container and Warehouse Operational experience.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

Fresh produce handling at retail or warehouse level

Microsoft D365

Analysis, spreadsheet modeling and compilation of large data sets.

Advanced in Excel

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION:

Bachelor's Degree preferred . And/or at least 3 years' experience performing the above functions including people management, inventory, advanced skills in banana ripening/conditioning, product quality assurance, and ethylene producing products.
