S&ME is seeking a professional to join our Environmental team in Raleigh, North Carolina as a Staff Industrial Hygienist and help us provide engineering solutions to our clients.

What You Will Do:

As a Staff Industrial Hygienist, you will operate with minimal supervision, conduct assessments or sampling for projects, manage some project tasks, draft reports, handle data, maintain equipment, prepare limited fee proposals, and engage in business development. Projects often involve asbestos, lead-based paint, and indoor air quality.

• Hazardous Materials Assessment: Conduct assessments and asbestos air sampling projects using standardized methods, ensuring data completeness and accuracy. Submit samples to the lab following quality procedures and evaluate data for reporting.
• Proposal Drafting: Develop project proposal drafts and perform hazardous materials assessments using standardized methods, ensuring data completeness and accuracy.
• Business Development: Join committees of local professional organizations and accompany senior staff on client/project visits or meetings.
• Training and Mentoring: Assist or train junior staff in field data collection and observation tasks.

Who You Are:

• You have a Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety and Health, or other related sciences
• You have a minimum of 2 years of industrial hygiene field sampling experience
• You have good business and technical writing skills
• You have Asbestos Inspector and Air Sampler accreditation, a plus

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

You are willing and able to perform the physical demands of this position with the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment such as:

• Working outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs, (field/laboratory samples and equipment)
• Working outside of normal business hours when necessary
