The Nevada Automotive Test Center (NATC) is currently seeking talented candidates for a(n) Industrial Security Specialist at our Silver Springs, NV location. At NATC, this position supports a team of engineers who design, manufacture, and test innovative automotive mobility solutions.

Founded in 1957, the Nevada Automotive Test Center (NATC) is a privately owned, independent test, evaluation, design and engineering facility offering development and testing to customers worldwide.

NATC's location in the great basin of Nevada allows our team to access terrain that can represent 85% of the world within a 150-mile radius, providing an excellent test bed for off-road mobility. NATC's operational area includes 1200 sq. miles of natural terrain, that when coupled with 6,200 acres of privately owned test courses, create an unparalleled testing area available to our engineers to innovate and solve our customer's problems. NATC has completed thousands of test programs as a one-stop shop for automotive development.

Position Summary:

Works under the direction of the Sr. Analyst Security Specialist and in conjunction with the Facility Security Officer this position supports approaches to objectives demonstrating a complete understanding and application of principles, concepts, and practices.

The role of Industrial Security Specialist is to assist in the development, implementation, evaluation, and certification and accreditation of classified and unclassified information systems while supporting the Senior Analyst Security Specialist, IT department and the Facility Security Office to interpret government and company policy to ensure compliance with Cognizant Security Agency (CSA) requirements for information systems and/or networks of varying complexity; support of the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification and NIST Protection of Controlled Unclassified Information in Nonfederal Systems requirements. This position will support the publicizing and submission to government Risk Management Framework (RMF) compliance with clear and effective written plans, procedures, and instructions; while sustaining compliance with all aspects of government approved plans throughout system and program life cycles. In order to establish and maintain strict program control, process support, analysis support, coordination support, security certification test support, security documentation support, investigations, software research, hardware introduction and release, emerging technology research inspections and periodic audits may be required. Will assist with the preparation of facility accreditation packages and site specific security plans; including but not limited to physical security requirements. May assist security management in the maintenance and accountability of electronic communication equipment and additional document control.

Essential Functions:



  1. Maintaining a working knowledge of system functions, security policies, technical security safeguards, and operational security measures.
  2. Assist with Plans of Actions, and Milestones (POA&M) in order to identify system weaknesses, mitigation, and timelines for applying corrective actions.
  3. Assist with the self-certification to government Authorizing Officials (AOs) that the requirements and procedures listed within the security plan are in accordance with contractually imposed regulations (NISPOM, NIST SP 800-53/171, DAAPM, etc.).
  4. Ensuring systems are operated and maintained in accordance with the System Security Plan and government issued Authorization to Operate (ATO) on classified system.
  5. Ensure the auditing of records and logs are collected and analyzed.
  6. Obtaining and maintaining NISP Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS), and/or applicable government system access, in order to effectively manage all security authorizations for systems under their purview.
  7. Support the managing, maintaining, and executing the continuous monitoring strategy.
  8. Collaborating with security officers and personnel to develop and implement security protocols and processes. While keeping current and advising on federal and defense regulations, policies, and instructions related to cybersecurity, physical security, information security, and personnel security.
  9. Generating security manuals and training on security protocols, processes, procedures, and instructions related to the protection of classified information, Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), and export controlled information.
  10. Ensuring that all security protocols and systems comply with NISPOM requirements.
  11. Overseeing the installation and upgrades of both hardware and software systems.
  12. Maintaining all database clearances using systems such as JPAS, DISS, and e-QIP.
  13. Managing, coordinating, and supervising all security operations, protocols, and processes.
  14. Monitoring and inspecting physical and digital security systems for weaknesses, risks, threats, and attacks.
  15. Submit & maintain personnel security (PCL) applications for DoD security clearances.
  16. Implement change orders related to cybersecurity in compliance with regulatory requirements (NIST, CMMC, DFARs, etc.).
  17. Troubleshooting and diagnosing security flaws and implementing effective interventions.
  18. Evaluating all contracts and security documents such as DD 254 forms and similar.
  19. Assist in maintaining the Company FCL and Insider Threat Program in compliance with the NISPOM.



Marginal Functions:



  1. Enter and maintain records in the CIS database. This includes all maintenance, alteration, assignment and software licenses for every server, computer, printer and copier.
  2. Understanding of the network directory services; to assist when needed in maintaining network security systems to prevent unauthorized access from internal or external sources.
  3. Assist, when required, the maintenance and review of the tape backup strategy to ensure the best possible backup coverage with current resources available.
  4. Assist as needed in the maintenance and configuration of networking routers, switches and firewalls.
  5. Understand departmental network plans for future expansion, equipment utilization and capacity.
  6. Support activities in the documentation of procedures and policies for all network and computer systems.
  7. Assist with research of new hardware and software as required.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned.
  9. Investigates security violations and conduct security audits, preparing reports specifying preventive action(s) to be taken.
  10. Assist in risk mitigation to physical access to controlled areas.
  11. Other duties as assigned.



Pay: $75,000-$103,000



Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in security management, information technology, or similar.
  2. Have excellent problem-solving abilities and experience with security measures for information security, physical security, personnel security, and cyber security.
  3. Must be honest, courteous, flexible and a hard worker.
  4. Be flexible and able to handle multiple priorities, with the ability to adjust to higher priority task with minimum supervision.
  5. Must be able to attain a security clearance.
  6. Valid driver's license and passport.
  7. Excellent computer and IT skills and proficiency
  8. An understanding of NISPOM, NIST and CMMC regulations.
  9. Must be able to lift and carry minimum of 50 pounds.
