Job Summary

As Director of Social Media, you will play a crucial role in growing and evolving the strategy and creative for Journey's paid and organic social channels, ensuring that we are aligned culturally and staying on top of social media trends. In this role, you'll drive brand fandom through engaging & inspiring content that makes teens/young adults want to shop for all their footwear at Journeys. Your work will enable us to make emmotional connections between social communities & Journeys through creative & entertaining storytelling that shows how Journeys "inspires the journey from one you to the next." By managing and maintaining strong connections with social platform partners and social industry news, you will keep Journeys on the pulse of first-mover opportunities. Ultimately, your efforts will deliver impactful business outcomes and breakthrough consumer experiences, driven by the power of social media.

Job Responsibilities

General Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive content strategy.
  • Lead and mentor the content team, fostering creativity and collaboration.
  • Analyze content performance metrics and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure content aligns with marketing initiatives.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and audience preferences to inform content creation.
  • Incorporate keyword research to enhance visibility in search engines while maintaining quality content.
  • Establish specific, measurable objectives that align with overall business goals.
  • Plan content in advance to ensure consistency and timely delivery across all platforms.
  • Work with vendor marketing partners to develop campaign brief and communicate to internal teams and brand agency.

Vendor-Sponsored Social Content

  • Collaborate with internal marketing team for all vendor-funded social campaigns to understand objectives, focus, timing, spend. Manage information flow between retail marketing team, brand communication team and brand agency. Work with retail marketing team to develop campaign brief and communicate to brand agency.
  • Collect, organize, track and analyze data related to social media campaigns for brand and vendor partnerships, including influencer partnerships.
  • Develop summary reports for all vendor-sponsored social campaigns, including metrics from brand agency showing sales engagements, sales lift, impact on sell-through. Provide reports to retail marketing team to share with vendor partners.

Social Media Reporting & Analytics

  • Gather data on campaign success for internal and vendor-sponsored campaigns.
  • Create monthly report highlighting top content, engagements, sales / conversion across platforms and organic & paid social content.
  • Monitor competitors' social media activity and update Brand Communications team regularly about competitors social media presence.

Job Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience managing social media campaigns + 3-year min experience managing people.
  • Expertise in youth culture and social trends.
  • Degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field.
  • Experience managing media + creative agencies.
  • Strong leadership skills, with proven ability to remain agile based on the ever-changing social and cultural landscape.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills.
  • A proven track record of leading social media campaigns at the speed of social.
  • Deep experience working cross-functionally with different teams to successfully inspire creativity & innovative thinking.
  • A thorough understanding of the current social media ecosystem, platform nuances, trends, & tools and thrive on discussing the current cultural zeitgeist.
  • A passion for pushing the horizons of how social media shapes culture.
  • Comfortable giving and receiving feedback, dealing with ambiguity, and engaging in challenging discussions.
