Description

Accountability: A CNC operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC machines to produce precision parts and products. They ensure quality by performing inspections, follow safety protocols, troubleshoot issues, and document production data while working efficiently to meet production goals. This is a 2nd shift position. The hours for this position are M-TH 3:30pm-2am.



Scope and Responsibilities:

Essential duties include, but are not limited to the following:



  • Proactively maintain a safe and healthy work environment for all employees.
  • Load and unload mid-sized cast iron workpieces onto machine fixtures for production runs.
  • Use overhead cranes to set up and load fixtures onto machines using general hand tools, scales, and tape measures.
  • Start, restart, and rework programs using G&M code programming logic.
  • Utilize computer systems to interact with a Palletech System for machine operation.
  • Set up, change, and maintain tooling as needed for efficient production.
  • Ensure machines are in good working condition through routine maintenance and checks.
  • Monitor and maintain oil, lubricant, and coolant levels on a daily/weekly basis
  • Perform accuracy checks using metric gauging, record results for ISO documentation, and ensure parts meet quality standards.



    Education/Certification:



    • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
    • Associate degree in Manufacturing or completion of a Vocational School program is preferred.
    • Hands-on training and experience as a CNC Machine Operator or Setup Operator in a related field is required.



    Skills:



    • Experience operating CNC equipment; familiarity with Palletech Systems is a plus.
    • Proficient in G&M code programming.
    • Skilled in setup work, including fixture setup using common hand tools, scales, and measuring tape.
    • Proficient in using indicators, micrometers, and bore gauges for part inspections and setups.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Solid understanding of the metric system.
    • Experience with overhead cranes.
    • Background in horizontal machining is a plus.
    • Working knowledge of various types of tooling is a plus.
