Job Description

Dewberry is currently seeking a Traffic Engineering Regional Manager in our Pittsburgh, Mechanicsburg, or Philadelphia Pennsylvania Offices. The ideal candidate will have 15 - 25 years of traffic engineering experience on PennDOT, Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC), and/or design-build projects. Applicants must have strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively and cooperatively in groups.

Qualified candidates will have a familiarity with HCM and HCS; Synchro/SimTraffic software and similar analysis tools; MUTCD and AASHTO; PennDOT traffic signal design; and development and assessment of operational alternatives. The candidate's experience may also include preparation and review of traffic impact studies (TISs) for land development projects; development of Transportation Management Plans (TMPs); and work for City of Pittsburgh, City of Philadelphia, and other municipal clients. Experience with traffic design work outside PA (NJ, NY, MD, and VA); ITS design; and familiarity with HSM, ICE, and BCA are a plus.

Experience is required in project management and budgeting, preparing technical and cost proposals, and understanding QA/QC procedures. The ideal applicant will have the experience and/or desire to market transportation planning and traffic engineering services. Applicants must possess their PE in PA and have experience working on projects across the Commonwealth. PTOE certification is desirable.

Responsibilities

    Direct staff in completing traffic engineering tasks
  • Provide a team environment, mentorship, and training for junior level traffic staff.
  • Maintain team building and project communication with both internal and external clients
  • Assist in developing statements of interest
  • Determine scope of work and prepare man-hour estimates for traffic engineering tasks
  • Provide quality control oversight for all aspects of the traffic engineering tasks
  • Work with Northeast and Mid-Atlantic Traffic Staff to complete other tasks as needed
  • Involvement in professional societies is encouraged


Required Skills & Required Experience

  • BSCE
  • PA Professional Engineer license
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in traffic engineering
  • Working knowledge of PennDOT and PTC design standards and best practices
  • Experience developing traffic signal designs and contract plans for PennDOT
  • Maintain positive employee relations and proactive project communication
  • Ability to monitor schedules and budgets
  • Strong technical writing skills required for reports
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills are required
  • Driving is a requirement of the position. A clean driving record will be required.
