About the Role:
SQA & DevOps ensures the quality and reliability of software applications through systematic testing and validation. Collaborating closely with development teams, the role identifies and resolves defects, creates and executes test plans, improves software performance and test coverage, and contributes to the continuous delivery of high-quality software products. Responsibilities include designing, developing, and maintaining automated test scripts to enhance the efficiency of testing cycles by automating repetitive and time-consuming test cases. This role is vital for delivering high-quality products that meet customer expectations and adhere to industry standards. Other responsibilities will include DevOps related activities such as lab system management, imaging of development environments, and automated build management.

This role is based in Buffalo Grove, IL.

What You'll Be doing:
  • Collaborate closely with development and operations teams to ensure quality is maintained throughout the development lifecycle. This involves continuous testing and monitoring to detect and address issues early.
  • Implement a "shift-left" approach, where testing and quality assurance activities are moved earlier into the development cycle. This helps in identifying and fixing defects at an early stage.
  • Develop and maintain automated test scripts to ensure consistent and efficient testing. This provides rapid feedback on code changes and helps in maintaining the quality of the software.
  • Set up and maintain continuous monitoring and feedback mechanisms to detect performance issues, bugs, and regressions in real-time.
  • Ensure that security and compliance standards are maintained in the fast-paced DevOps environment. This includes security testing, code analysis, and vulnerability scanning.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that quality is embedded at every stage of the development process. This includes participating in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
  • Monitor the production software for unexpected behavior or issues and work with the team to resolve them promptly.
  • Manage and monitor lab systems
  • Manage and monitor automated build systems
  • Deploy operation system images to lab systems
  • Perform related duties as assigned
Who We're Looking For:
  • Strong understanding of DevOps principles and practices.
  • Experience with test automation tools and frameworks.
  • Proficiency in continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Knowledge of security testing and compliance standards.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, agile environment.
  • Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript) and test automation frameworks.
  • Solid understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.
  • Experience with continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Unit test, Functional test, Regression test, System Integration test
  • Microsoft Team Foundation Server and/or Microsoft Azure DevOps
  • Microsoft Visual Studio and .NET
  • SQL Server, Oracle, and relational databases
  • Strong communication skills and technical writing experience
  • Familiarity with automation technology such as robotics, PLC's mechanical actuators, and vision systems is a plus
  • Experience in healthcare industry is a plus
Education and Experience:
  • Computer Engineering Degree, Computer Science Degree, or Technical College Degree with relevant work experience.
  • Experience with performance, security testing, and test automation.
  • Certification in software testing (e.g., ISTQB, CSTE) is a plus.
  • 3+ years of SQA or DevOps experience
