Commercialization Quality Engineer

Lead quality activities to ensure products meet or exceed product performance and functionality standards during product development cycle, through launch, and throughout the product lifecycle. Reapply learned best practices to current and future product.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Lead quality functions through shoe development process
    • Take the Critical to Consumer Quality Points (CCQP) that product management defines and translates them into Critical to Quality (CTQ) features that are achievable in the manufacturing process. Provide feedback on what the shoe can be to the development team based on trials and work with the new product engineering team, while being the voice of the consumer to make sure our products will delight the customer.
    • Develop and define clear, style-specific quality specifications and limits for CTQ features that can be handed off to value streams and finished goods quality to be executed consistently and support any clarification or training through the product lifecycles.
    • Drives Product Quality throughout the development process to meet the customer needs as defined by product management and development, leading to clear and concise product specifications, fit, and performance needs.
    • Throughout the development process, starting at proto 1, evaluate all proto samples against CCQPs and CTQs and provides feedback
    • Reviews drawings, tolerances, and specifications for sourced materials for new products and works with supplier quality and development to ensure specifications meet manufacturing requirements.
    • Lead QC/QA functions in production lines
    • Leads team of inspectors to provide feedback on critical quality features throughout assigned manufacturing facilities.
    • Ensures IPAs are conducted consistently across factories and inspectors.
    • Identifies opportunities for improvements and leads projects to improve quality.
    • Assists manufacturing in investigating customer escapes.

REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS

  • Bachelors degree in engineering or similar
  • 5-10 years of manufacturing experience. Shoe manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with Toyota Production System or similar lean systems
  • Strong data analysis and reporting skills
  • Strong action orientation to achieve deadlines and business results
  • Ability to Travel between all Domestic NB Facilities
  • Proficient in MS Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc)
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate across all levels and function.
