Senior Product Safety and Compliance Engineer

As a Senior Product Safety and Compliance Engineer your goal is to plan and perform a variety of complex engineering assignments to promote the safe and compliant use of products; ensure compliance with government standards and adoption of industry standards.

You'll lead product safety reviews, tests and assessments for compliance with Federal, State and International standards, product compliance, and/or product safety best practices for Briggs & Stratton machines including outdoor power equipment.

You'll also evaluate progress and results of projects and routinely communicate key regulatory issues. Additionally, you'll support product specific compliance responsibility on external standard/regulatory setting panels for assigned area(s) of responsibility; recommending and direct changes in design, procedures or objectives as necessary.

You will do this by:

• Performing regulatory reviews during design and prior to production to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and standards
• Developing strategies, test plans, and product safety risk assessments to meet compliance standards and regulations
• Leading the review and integration messages and content in label design, communication reviews, technical publications, marketing displays and operating manuals
• Providing interpretations and guidance based upon research of global compliance standards and regulations and reports findings
• Supporting the company in the development of standards and recommends resolutions when necessary
• Supporting the Product Compliance Manager in product incident and accident investigations, root cause analysis and/or emission audit reviews
• Leading the certification of equipment to meet relevant standards; produces and submits compliance reports as required for government agencies, including but not limited to CPSC

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Engineering or related field
• Minimum of seven years of experience in a related field

Preferred Qualifications:

• Fundamental knowledge of outdoor power equipment
• Experience serving on a committee, for example Safety, whether internal or external to organization
• Experience working with industry related agencies

Additional Knowledge & Skills:

• Fundamental knowledge of regulations and industry standards
• Familiarity with the design, control and incorporation of compliance strategies
• Strong planning, organizational, problem solving and decision making skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently
• Fluent in English and primary language used in area of responsibility and/or location

NY State Compensation:

• For this position, the expected base annual salary range is $90,000 to $125,000 USD commensurate with experience. Actual compensation within that range will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience, qualifications, and applicable laws. This position also includes an annual incentive compensation plan.
