The Opportunity: This is an exciting opportunity for an entry level actuarial analyst looking to start their career in the E&S Property and Crop space. The purpose of this role is to support the Property business units in achieving profitability by extracting, compiling, and reviewing basic data and assisting with business planning and analysis. Works under immediate supervision with a focus on learning and professional development. Requires basic knowledge of insurance and actuarial/statistical science.

Location: Sun Prairie, Wisconsin

  • Work Arrangement: This role is a hybrid role, where you will be expected to be in the office 2-3 days per week.
  • The starting salary for this role is between $64,000.00 and $96,000.00

Your New Role:

*Provide actuarial pricing analysis to deliver profitable growth for the Property business units. This includes assisting in development of pricing tools, portfolio analysis, filings, and making contributions towards reinsurance strategy and business planning.
*Learns new concepts and technologies quickly in learned ways and recognizes opportunities to improve current processes
*Analyze moderately complex data by compiling, organizing and formatting information into reports to deliver usable data for Actuarial department analyses needs
*Performs routine work with little oversight, modifying methods and assumptions as additional requirements or data is known
*Meets quality service standards by having all worksheets and analyses clearly documented and footnoted and ensures all appropriate work products are reviewed by a more senior actuary, while meeting deadlines without sacrificing work product quality
*Develops relationships within the actuarial organization
*Consult key stakeholders by clarifying basic actuarial data issues to ensure team delivers accurate analyses for organizational planning and development
*Engages in recruitment activities and training new employees and interns
*Supports the department by taking personal accountability and responsibility for accomplishing certain tasks and learn from any mistake while receiving constructive feedback and coaching to better enhance the position's duties
*Independently seeks out opportunities for further development and enrichment and actively pursues actuarial credentials (if on the actuarial track)
*Contribute to a positive work environment by demonstrating cultural expectations and influencing others to reward performance and value "can do" people, accountability, diversity and inclusion, flexibility, continuous improvement, collaboration, creativity and fun

Required Qualifications

* Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
* 0-1 year relevant experience

Preferred Experience/Education/Knowledge

* Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Economics or other quantitative field
* 0-3 years experience in an Actuarial or Analytics department

* 3+ casualty actuarial exams
* Specialized math including calculus, statistics, probability
*Computer systems and software such as SAS SQL, PowerBI, R, and Python
*Basic actuarial techniques
*Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel

Compensation Package: The salary range for this role is provided above. This is the national range for location(s) listed. The salary offer will be decided based on the role's complexity, its location, and the candidate's professional background, including their education and experience. Beyond the base salary, regular full-time and part-time employees will also be eligible for QBE's annual discretionary bonus plan based on business and individual performance.We encourage all candidates to apply, even if their salary expectations fall outside of this range, as we are committed to finding the right fit for our team.
